If A Journey To Mars Is Going To Take So Long Then Why Dont They Put The Astronauts Into Deep Freeze

I must recant to you this story. It occured in the middle of August last year. I was doing some windown shopping when I bumped into some people I work with. They were in town collecting some fun things to do before returning to their holiday home for a leaving do. I managed to get myself an invite so we all headed off together.
